No—you cannot keep playing PS Plus monthly games once your subscription expires. Cancelling renewal does not cut access off immediately: your benefits continue until the end of the period you already paid for.

Does downloading a game make it permanent?

No. PlayStation says previously downloaded subscription content becomes unavailable after membership ends. Installing the files is not the same as buying the game.

Before renewing or buying another edition, check whether you claimed a monthly game, downloaded a catalog title, or paid for a separate purchase. Start with your library and purchase receipt rather than the fact that the game is installed.

What if the game leaves the catalog?

A continuing subscription does not guarantee permanent catalog access. Sony says some Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles have departure dates announced in advance. Check the title’s listing before planning a long playthrough.
