Why “Thursday” can mean Friday on Hulu
Here is the detail worth saving: Disney’s October calendar lists AHS at 9 p.m. Pacific on Thursdays. For an East Coast viewer, that is 12 a.m. Friday. For example, the October 1 batch corresponds to midnight at the start of October 2 in Eastern time.
The premiere is a separate case: the September calendar lists September 24 at 6 p.m. PT, which is 9 p.m. ET that evening. Do not carry that earlier time over to the October episodes. If you watch FX through a TV provider, use that provider’s channel guide for its feed.

Do you need to watch the earlier seasons?
You can start here, according to Disney’s own viewing guide. It says newcomers can follow Ben’s story, while returning characters give longtime viewers extra context. If you want some background first, the guide points to Murder House, Coven, Hotel and Cult.
That makes a full-series marathon optional. Our suggestion: start with the new season if your main goal is to join the weekly conversation; revisit those earlier installments if the returning characters are what interests you.
